The fifth of July does not just mark the end of the Independence Day weekend celebrations, but also the end of the first half of 2016. The first six months had a number of great holidays which help businesses drive sales and engage new customers, but it is the last six months of 2016 that many business look forward to.

Labor Day: 09-10-2016
In Europe Labor Day (May Day) marks the start of summer, and an opportunity for much needed rest. While in the United States, Labor Day signifies the end of summer, and one last weekend to relax before returning to work or school. Contrary to what its name suggest, many businesses remain open on this date, as it is considered as a major retail holiday second to Black Friday. Make use of end-of-summer and back-to-school promotionals to drive sales to your stores.

Veterans Day: 11-11-2016
In 1953, Alvin King, a shoe store owner in Emporia, Kansas petitioned to have Armistice Day changed to (All) Veterans Day to commemorate all veterans – not just those who served in World War I. The holiday remains a great way for businesses to drive sales and show their appreciation for veterans at the same time.

Thanksgiving: 11-24-2016
Thanksgiving is a time for loved ones to gather and celebrate their many blessings gained throughout the year – over a lot of food. A holiday which many would argue is even bigger than Christmas. While that is debatable, what is for certain is, Black Friday, which marks the start of the Christmas season, is the largest retail holiday in the United States. There is no better time to drive traffic to your stores and make so that all items are sold out.

Christmas: 12-25-2016
Christmas is an international celebration with different traditions and meanings for various groups of people. What is recognisable around the world is the modern depiction of Santa Claus, which was a reimagining of Coca-Cola in 1931 to help drive sales. A campaign which has last till this day. The entire Christmas season remains a great time to drive sales, not just in the US, but around the world.
